Chiu-fen, Taiwan Trip 2011

Chiu-fen, is an old gold mining town built on a steep mountain slope and has retain much of its quaint traditional flavour. A cool nice place on a highland area [northeastern part of Taipei].  Visitors can explore the precipitous old streets of the town and can savour many different types of local taiwanese and Japanese food from savoury to sweet desserts.  Was advised to visit Chiu-fen with an empty stomach because there are plenty of food around Chiu-fen streets.  Serene view of the distant sea from the top.
Scenic views of Chiufen Village
Transport to Chiu-fen is not a problem.  We took a Keelung Bus No. 1062 from a bus stop opposite Sogo Departmental Store at Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT station exit.  Bus fare is NT$ 100 - 105.  Bus journey is about an hour.  About half day tour should be sufficient to see the place and try some of the local delicacies.
