Location - north east corner of the walled Chiangmai Old City along Sriphoom Road, Chang Phuak Gate.
This is the first and oldest temple in Chiangmai, built by King Mengrai in 1296 at the same spot where he lived while in Chiangmai. Housed within are two rare Buddha statues, the Crystal Buddha and Marble Buddha said to be about 2000 years old.There is an ancient Sri Lankan style Chedi decorated with elephants.
The Buddha statue inside the temple's ordination hall is said to be the oldest intact Buddha in Chiangmai dating back to 1465.
