FUJIAN - NANJING TULOU

This is the second time I visited Fujian Tulous.  The first was in  2015 when I visited Chengqilou Tulous [known as the King of Tulous] at Yongding, Longyan, Fujian. There are so many Tulous spread over the areas of Yongding and Nanjing County.
I remembered visiting several clusters of Tulou at Yongding such as Chengqilou, Hekeng, Chuxi and Hegilou etc.  But I do not remember if I shared my visits there then.
This time, my China relatives brought us to Nanjing County tulous.  During this visit, we were able to see the day and night view of Tianloukeng Tulou Cluster, figuratively known as 'Si Cai Yi Tang -  四菜一汤 [four dishes with a soup].  It was possible as we stayed a night at the homestay here.  The viewing platform was just a few minutes walk from the homestay.  Visitors will need to get a ticket to have a aerial view of the Tulous.

Tianloukeng Tulou Cluster in Tianloukeng, Shangban Village, Shuyang Township, Nanjing County consists of one square and four round tulous [to be specific is 3 round and 1 oval shaped tulous].  These were built in accordance with the cyclical derivation of traditional Chinese philosophy's 5 elements [metal, wood, water, fire and earth].  This cluster is supposed to have the most beautiful combination of shapes and to be a unique architectural wonder.  The square tulou is named as Buyun Lou, the round ones are named Zhenchang Lou, Ruiyun Lou and Hechang Lou, while the oval one is Wenchang Lou.  The main residents here are from the Huang 'Ooi' clan and are well protected.
Tianloukeng became a State Protected Historic Site in May 2001 and was selected a Famous Historic and Cultural Village of China in November 2003.  It is now listed under Unesco's World's Heritage List.
