Sumptuous Dinner

We had a sumptuous 8 course dinner at Four Seasons Restaurant, Sunway Tunas, Bayan Baru tonight.  This dinner is a treat from my eldest nephew.   I remembered in the past, we are always  giving the treats, now that era is over for us.  The next generation has grown up and earning well, capable of giving their elders a treat on and off.   It is always a natural circle.  Now we sit to enjoy while the young ones play the role of footing the bill.  Thank you young man and please do this more often, it is much appreciated by all of us.

 

 

 

 

 

Too hungry, forgotten to take some shots before starting the dinner.  This four seasons platter is acceptable.  The kerabu squids and fried egg 'kui fah chi' tasted good, the Kiwi sauce fried pork ribs is something new and tasty too.  The fried Nori rolls should be better if crab filament is not used.

Self Service, staff too busy

This shark fin's soup is rather tasty with crab meat and small scallops, comes in steaming hot.  Not too bad

This Marmite Chicken with Fried Buns was selected to replace Crispy Fried Chicken.  Very fragrant and slightly on the sweet side but goes well with the fried buns where are soft and moist.  Quite a good dish to try.

This vegetable dish with fresh bean curd [tau pau], fish maw, mushrooms, broccoli and mock scallops is also good.  The portion given is big and the mock scallops look very real

Can't describe the taste but is like the Marmite Chicken sauce.  The prawns are fresh and quite big and all finished.

This Lemon Steamed Snapper is good for the sauce but the fish is not as fresh as expected.

Stir Fried Spaghetti with Seafood is a nice noodle dish.  Tasty with lots of seafood ingredients like squids, prawns and fried fish meat..  Goes well with sambal belacan.  Portion is enough for us.

The restaurant was very kind to change the Aiyoh Dessert with Fah Sang Hu and Pancake.  The Fah Sang Hu came before the Shanghai Pancake and we thought there is no pancake.  When it came, we had almost finish the peanut cream soup and had forgotten to take a shot of it.

Father's Day 2014

Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society.  

For over half a century, I was blessed with a loving and caring father, one whom I can share my success, happy and sad moments.  It has been 3 years now that I'm without him at my side.  I missed him very much and more so on this day when many are celebrating this day with their fathers.  

This year the sad feeling is even more intense because it is also the first year my two nieces are missing their beloved Papa, my youngest brother Roddy who passed away on last Christmas.  I can understand the feeling of loss and sadness on this day when you recalled that he was still around last Father's Day celebrating the occasion, too.

Anyway, for other fathers that are still around, their children will continue to celebrate this day with fun and enjoying the best food in town or at home and other gifts.

My nephews and us celebrated Father's Day with their father, my younger brother on the eve.  We had a sumptuous steamboat dinner at Old House Restaurant and I brought along some cute Magic Custard Cupcakes too.

It's a good steamboat dinner which we all enjoyed very much but deep down in our hearts we do missed the fathers that had passed on and wish that it would be so good if they are still around.

This steamboat is quite different from the usual, in that the soup  is very tasty.  A whole garoupa fish is separated into fish head which has been deep fried until crispy and added to the steamboat soup.  Whereas the fleshy part is deboned and sliced.  You have to finish eating the fried fish head before adding the other fresh ingredients to cook.

The other ingredients for this steamboat are good quality fish maw, fresh big prawns, squids, fish cakes, lots of vegetables and the most welcome meatballs that are made from minced meat, pine nuts and water chestnuts together with seasonings.  We expected to be given crabs and clams but were told that these are side others which has to be placed beforehand.

Overall, it is a nice steamboat dinner the family enjoyed.

CHENG BENG 2014 [Qing Ming Festival]

The first time in more than 2 decades, Cheng Beng without my late youngest brother Roddy.  Every year he had been the one able to remember and locate our ancestors' graves that are at least over 2 decades to a century old.  These graves are located at different cemeteries in Penang all done in one day.  This year we had to do it in 2 days as we have to visit my Papa's grave and also Roddy's grave.  The other day is to visit our ancestors's graves.

Every year, Roddy was the one we will lead us all for Qing Ming as he was the one who would usually be able to find them at those 'old' cemeteries.

Without him this year, we have to pray hard that these ancestors' graves can be easily found.  Thank God, our prayers were answered as we managed to locate them quite easily, perhaps, Roddy was leading us without out knowledge.

The family visited my Papa's and Roddy's graves located at Relau Sepuluh Kongsi Cemetery on April 5.
