Hwahsi Street Tourist Night Market, Taipei, Taiwan

Night markets are among Taiwan's most popular tourist spots.  These markets get under way around husk, with vendors offering everything from accessories and clothings to snacks and carnival games.  If you want to try the special delicacies of different areas, a night market is the place to go.
My husband was attracted to this night market when he saw the Braised Meat stalls and numerous stalls in the area.  This night market is famous for its meat stew, eel noodles, shrimp in wine and snake dishes which give the market its English nickname, "Snake Alley".  The first time there, was after dinner, so we made another visit on our return trip to Taipei after we came back from Taichung.  The very purpose is to try the Braised Meat [Pig Trotter].
Where is Hwahsi Street Tourist Night Market?  The Hwahsi Street Tourist Night Market is located adjacent to the famous Longshan Temple, a short walking distance away.  Take MRT to Longshan Station and just walk to Longshan Temple and you should be able to see the night market.

Tips:  When ordering food from different stalls, make sure that all the food can be brought to the table you choose.  We ordered Braised Meat Rice and Boiled White Chicken [different stall].  We were asked to change table because both stalls are not in good terms.

Ruifeng Night Market, Kaohsiung, Taiwan

All about Ruifeng Night Market, Kaohsiung.  There are rows and rows of food stalls packed with local people [mostly young people] during the night especially weekends and holidays.  This area is bustling with activities at night.  Many food and drinks here have been reported in newspapers, magazines and TV programs.  Don't know what to eat? Just look out for the recommendations stuck on the sides of the stalls.
Take Kaohsiung MRT Red Line to Kaohsiung Arena Station, leave the station from Exit 1 and walk straight for about 5 minutes.  The night market is at the block of Yucheng Road and Nanping Road, Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City.

Liouhe Tourist Night Market, Kaoshiung, Taiwan

Liouhe Night Market, Kaoshiung in photos.  A very well planned night market, tourist area, very spacious and easy to look around.  Spacious eating area too.  This night market is very near to Nanhua night market.  You can't say you've visited Kaohsiung unless you've been to this night market.  With its myriads of food and game stalls, Liouhe Night Market was awarded the 'most glamorous night market' prize in 2010 night market selection.  Many foreign tourists visit this night market.
Liouhe Night Market - Take the Kaohsiung MRT Red line or Orange line to Formosa Boulevard Station.  Leave the station from Exit 11 and go north to Liouhe 2nd Road.  This night market is within walking distance from either MRT Kaoshiung Main Station and Formosa Boulevard Station.  Located at Liouhe 2nd Road between Jhongshan 1st Road and Zihli 2nd Road, Sinsing District, Kaohsiung City.

Nanhua Street Day and Night Market, Kaoshiung, Taiwan

Nanhua Street Day & Night Market Entrance
In Kaoshiung, we visited Nanhua Night Market, Liuhe Night Market and Ruifeng Night Market.  Most of these night markets are packed with people, tourists and locals especially during weekends.

The 'Saba Ye' fish soup is good
The above food outlet has very good freshwater fish soup.  If I am not wrong the fish is known as 'Saba Yu' in Taiwanese local dialect.  We had a plate of boiled meat with shredded ginger and sauce, blanched vegetables, fish soup, dried noodles and 'lor bak' rice.  The total costs of this dinner is NT$175.
'Ai Yu' with lime- can really quench your thirst

I Zhong Night Market, Taichung, Taiwan

Where is I Zhong Night Market [Yizhong Night Market] ?  I Zhong night market is at I Zhong Business Street near Sanmin Road Sec. 2 and Taiping Road.
This night market seems to be packed with youngsters which we believed could be because of the colleges and university around the area.  Plenty of fried foods, Japanese and local Taiwanese snacks and drinks.
We did not take photos of the Zhonghua Night Market because we were there too early and most of the stalls are not set for business.  We were too hungry and also forgotten to take some photos of the dinner we had at an economy food stall.  We had 6 dishes with 2 bowls of rice.  The price comes to NT$125.  Then we adjourned to the Fried Oyster stall and ordered a plate [NT$50].  Frankly speaking, we prefer our Malaysian [Penang] Fried Oyster to this.
Taiwanese Fried Oysters [Oh Chien]
We did not visit the famous Fengchia tourist night market at Fengchia as it is quite a distance from the hotel.  Moreover, we found most of the night markets have about the same type of foods and other commodities stalls.
